JEAN-PAUL BRUN, 薄酒萊老藤 – 歲月

Jean-Paul Brun釀酒生涯的首批作品,也是他的成名作,法國權威雜誌 LRV 近十年的分數都在92以上;平均樹齡45歲,手工採收,以附著於葡萄皮上的野生酵母進行發酵,SO2含量遠低於法國自然酒協會標準。

    Vivid ruby-red. Vibrant red fruit scents are complemented by a building floral nuance and a hint of licorice. A spicy quality carries on to the palate, which offers juicy red currant, raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Turns sweeter on a penetrating, gently tannic and persistent finish that echoes the red fruit and floral notes. Best after 2021.

    The 2019 Beaujolais l’Ancien delivers notions of sweet berry and cherry fruit mingled with hints of licorice and spice. Medium-bodied, bright and charming, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's classically proportioned and full of fruit.

    Brun's dependably superb 2018 Beaujolais l’Ancien offers up notes of rose petals, cherries and raspberries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate built around satiny tannins and juicy acids. It's a beautifully gourmand but precise wine, demonstrating the strengths of this vintage in the limestone soils of the southern Beaujolais.

    A wine that smells, oddly, of hot rubber soles and fresh almonds. But the fruit is lovely. Sour cherry, red mulberries, sharp but ripe, tinged with dried thyme and sage and violet petal. It has the tang of hibiscus petals and sumac. Crunchy acidity. And tannins with real finesse! It even has an insistent finish.

    Unspectacular, but this has subtle red-fruit aromas and beautiful balance for a “basic”Beaujolais. Lives up to its name as an authentic expression of how these wines tasted half a century and more ago. Long, delicate finish and very food-friendly. Drink or hold.
